Summer Lovin'

When we were sweltering in the heat of the Lytchett Matravers Village Fayre I had this crazy notion that we were in for a long hot summer. How wrong could I have been? I have been feeling very sorry for my friends in BOAT's (from what I hear) very fine production of As You Like It. Good luck for the rest of the run guys and girls. But since then we have been some busy bees. The Panto workshop was very well attended and was great fun. My life has subsequently been made easier as Linsey is floating around on cloud nine secure in the knowledge that she has a great cast. We've also cast the One Act plays. That is always a fun night and very well attended. This time we have a line up of two cracking and very funny plays for your delectation and delight. Plus a little musical interlude for you. You'd better get a wriggle on though if you want to come as tickets are selling very quickly. Before that, of course, we have the Castle Players AGM on 10th September. It would be lovely to see as many people there as we did at our last emergency meeting to hear from you how we're doing and for you to have your opportunity feed in some ideas. You might even decide you'd like to join us and put your ideas for improving our fantastic society into practice. We usually have a bit of a giggle at our meetings. We only have them once a month and less than that in the summer months so it's not at all onerous and you get the feeling that you're doing something positive. Then before you know it, as the evenings start to draw in and ordinary folks draw themselves away from the world to huddle in front of the televisions a few lucky people get to go out and play with their friends in what we like to call "panto rehearsals" which is really a good excuse for people to get together to create something spectacular that will bring joy to those people sensible enough to come and enjoy our 2018 panto. A bright point in the dark calendar of winter. Hopefully summer will return before the kids go back to school and you can all enjoy what's left of the holidays. See ya soon, Have Fun! Chairman Steve
